IT’S TIME TO TALK TURKEY FOR THANKSGIVING 2025!
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it’s time to think about Turkeys: Our Hot Meals Thanksgiving Dinner will be on November 30, 2025, the Sunday after Thanksgiving. We are expecting 10 turkeys from the Morongo Band of Indians this year, and in addition, anyone wanting to buy, cook, and donate a turkey for future use will be appreciated. Please let Sandi or Robert know if you can pick up, cook, and deliver one of the turkeys. They come to us frozen, so we thaw them in the refrigerator in Fellowship Hall and appreciate anyone who can pick up a turkey or two and cook and prepare them for our Hot Meals Thanksgiving Feast.
We are asking that cooked birds be brought to Copeland Hall kitchen on Saturday, November 29, between 11:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. We’d appreciate your turkey being cut into serving slices if possible, and pan juices for gravy are a nice addition. If you are bringing cooked turkey, pies or sides, please contact Sandi in the church office or email Robert Spitzer rgspitzer146@gmail.com and let them know.

Riverside is unlocking the doors to some of its most cherished historic sites! The 8th annual Doors Open event will take place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., offering free access to local historic gems including the Center for Social Justice & Civil Liberties, Peter J. Weber House, Harada House, UCR Arts, The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture, Civil Rights Institute of Inland Southern California, and much more. Many buildings, some typically closed to the public, will open their doors for a unique look at each one’s history. Enjoy exclusive docent-led tours and experience our City’s rich culture and historic architecture firsthand! Calvary will host a Stained-Glass Window Tour at 2 p.m. given by our own Marlene Flowers. The Blessing of the Animals: Saturday, October 4, 2025, 10:00 a.m. in the front courtyard. The patron saint of animals, St. Francis of Assisi’s birthday was October 4. We will begin with a brief worship service and then the pastors will bless the animals and the owners as well. There will be a commemorative gift for your pet courtesy of the Bryant Family. Animals MUST be in the control of their owner at all times, on a leash, in a crate or cage. Please also be prepared to clean up after your pet. Invite a friend and their pets to be blessed! It’s a fun time for both people and their pets!

Presbyterian Women of Calvary will meet on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. PW will kick off our first meeting of the year by doing a little house cleaning. Our church offers greeting cards of all kinds free of charge to Calvary members. However, since there are so many cards to sort through, we thought it would be so much easier to choose cards if they were sorted and displayed by category. All the greeting cards will now be kept in one location, helping you find your card much quicker. We have a lot of them from Christmas, birthday, sympathy, get well, etc. to blank note cards. So be sure to take advantage of this free offer anytime you’re at Calvary. If you have extra greeting cards, please drop them off at the church office and we will sort them.
Yummy snacks are always provided. All are welcome to attend!

The graveside for Dick Powell will be at Olivewood at 11:30 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025. A Memorial Reception will be held at Calvary following the graveside from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. Dick Powell, husband of Shirley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025. He was 88. Shirley and Dick had been married nearly 65 years and members since 1963.All are welcome to attend both graveside and reception.
