JAMES SHEPARD CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE AND RECEPTION
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Andrew Shepard, 79, who departed this life on January 8, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family.
A memorial service celebration of life with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Riverside, California. All those who knew and loved Jim are welcome to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a Cancer Foundation in Jim’s honor.
Jim will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to his family, church, and community. He leaves a legacy of love, service, and integrity that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Maundy Thursday on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary marks Jesus’ final night with his disciples before he is arrested by the Roman authorities. We will offer communion and readings with singing to remember the agonizing last days of Jesus journeying to the cross.
Palm Sunday is April 13, 2025 at 9:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. Come early to the front steps to get your palm fronds and join the processional. We remember Jesus’ very last entry into Jerusalem riding on a young donkey as the crowds cheered.

In 2025, Calvary Presbyterian Church will continue to fight against the challenges of disease, disaster, displacement and other concerns that leave people hungry. Please join in as we raise funds to help neighbors near and far get the meals they need for today and sustainable food security for tomorrow.
Calvary is organizing a team that will meet Sunday, March 23, 2025. Registration starts at 1:10 p.m. and the Walk starts at 1:30 p.m. We will meet at the First United Methodist Church, 4845 Brockton Avenue, Riverside, CA 92506 and walk to Trinity Lutheran Church and then back to The First United Methodist Church. The Walk route is 2 miles.

Presbyterian Women of Calvary meets on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, 10:00 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Our own Rosie Heath will talk about Calvary’s participation in Crop Walk 2025. Whether it is through monetary pledges or actual walking, Calvary and PW will support Rosie in making this a successful event. A percentage of the money collected helps our own Hot Meals program. The PWP luncheon we host in March will also be a topic to review. It would be nice if everyone could attend since we need their ideas and input. Please join us!
